Great Texas State Park – though, if you are tent camping – try to stay in the lower loop!

We brought our extended family camping last weekend and had a great time! If you are tent camping, try to stay in the lower loop (campsites 60-64) as the campsites appear to be much larger and definitely offer much greater privacy than the campsites to the north. Adjacent to our campsite, (#62) was a well-maintained sand volleyball court, large pavilion, playground and swim area. The kids took advantage of the volleyball court and since there were so few campsites in the loop – we didn’t have to worry about the kids getting run-down by a car.

We brought our kayak and had a great time paddling around the lake.

The park is only a 1-hour drive, SE of Dallas so is easy to get to and we definitely plan to return!
